Lock Type Technology

“Click” or Woodlock systems
Our patented “click” system is available in two options: Unilin and Fiboloc. This innovative design resembles the traditional tongue-and-groove system but requires the board to be angled or “tapped” into place, allowing the curved or barbed tongue to fit securely into the modified groove.
This adhesive-free installation method offers several advantages, including easier board replacement. It is especially beneficial for floating installations, such as bamboo flooring, and is compatible with both engineered wood and select solid flooring options.

Tongue-and-groove Engineered wood
Tongue-and-groove flooring features planks crafted with precision, incorporating a groove on one edge and a matching tongue on the other. This design ensures a secure and seamless fit as the tongue locks into the groove of adjoining planks, resulting in a smooth, unified surface.
This flooring style is highly versatile, compatible with both engineered and solid wood options. It supports multiple installation methods, such as glue-down, floating, and nail-down, offering flexibility to suit a wide range of preferences and installation needs.
Installation Systems

Floating Installation
The floating installation method is a widely favored approach for installing engineered wood flooring, where the planks are not directly attached to the subfloor. Instead, a recommended wood glue is applied to the grooves of each plank, ensuring they are securely held together.
For improved performance, a thin underlayment pad is placed between the flooring and the subfloor. This underlayment serves multiple purposes: it provides cushioning, minimizes moisture transfer, reduces noise, and offers a softer feel underfoot.
This method is compatible with nearly all engineered wood floors today, making it a fast, efficient, and convenient choice for both professional installers and DIY enthusiasts.

Glue Down Installation
The glue-down installation method is an excellent choice for wood flooring, providing a solid, stable feel and effectively minimizing noise from footsteps and other impacts. It’s particularly well-suited for large, open spaces where noise reduction is a priority.
Our glue-down system utilizes a high-performance, one-component, moisture-cured STP hybrid adhesive. This innovative adhesive combines the flexibility of polyurethane with the advanced benefits of silane technology, ensuring a strong, durable bond while reducing potential damage to the substrate caused by shear forces.
Smart Wood’s glue-down system is ideal for both residential and commercial flooring applications, delivering reliability and exceptional performance.

Nailing Down Installation
Nailing or stapling is a widely preferred installation method among professionals, especially when a wooden subfloor is present.
For 1-inch solid hardwood flooring, nails or staples approximately 5 cm long are commonly used, while shorter 3.5 cm nails are ideal for thinner engineered wood flooring. To ensure a secure and durable installation, it is essential to nail or staple each plank or strip at both ends.
This method provides a sturdy, long-lasting flooring solution and is a reliable choice for solid and engineered wood installations.
